Job Title: Director of Primary Programmes

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our School of Education at Liverpool John Moores University. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Primary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes that lead to an award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

About the Role

The Director of Primary Programmes will be responsible for nurturing and developing our Primary ITE programmes, as well as our critically important relationships with partner primary schools. The successful individual will need to retain strategic oversight for the consistent delivery of the curriculum for all student teachers.

Our student numbers on Primary ITE programmes total around 320, and student experience is at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Nurture and develop Primary ITE programmes
  2. Retain strategic oversight for the consistent delivery of the curriculum for all student teachers
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with partner primary schools
  4. Support all relevant Professional Standards and Requirements Board (PSRB) requirements
  5. Undertake operational management, including timetabling and line management
  6. Make strategic contributions relevant to the role and as a key member of our School Management Team
Requirements

We are seeking an experienced and innovative ITE leader with a relevant undergraduate degree with QTS, or PGCE (QTS) and hold a PhD, or professional qualification and significant relevant professional experience of at least three years at senior level. The successful candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment.
