We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our team at Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Payroll and Pensions service, you will be responsible for leading a team and driving the service forward with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Payroll/ESR Team Manager and will be responsible for providing a professional operational Payroll/ESR service to our clients. This will include ensuring that the ESR Payroll Module is processed within agreed deadlines and producing accurate and prompt salary payments to all staff in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements.

You will also be responsible for liaising and communicating with Managers and Staff at all levels to advise on complex payroll queries, carrying out complex financial calculations, and analysing detailed data to identify any areas of error or discrepancy.

Requirements
  • Proven record of excellent customer service
  • Ability to lead a team and use initiative to solve problems
  • In-depth knowledge of the payroll service, including ESR, NHS terms and conditions, and statutory payments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Managers and Staff at all levels
