Senior Accountant Job Description

Reed is working in partnership with a modern, growing accountancy practice to recruit a Senior Accountant with experience working in an accountancy practice. The company values training opportunities and has an open door policy.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in shaping the next steps of the office, working with predominantly owner-managed businesses, Sole Traders, and SMEs with a strong client focus and contact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting directly to Partner/Director level, liaising directly with all clients, managing a client portfolio, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, and tax computations and returns
  • Providing planning advice to clients, and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Finalising working papers and financial statements for a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Providing technical assistance to members of staff in the accounting team
  • Identifying and proactively communicating advisory points with clients
  • Keeping up to date with any changes in accounting regulations and ensuring clients are made aware of the impact of these
  • Mentoring trainee members of the team
Requirements:
  • Professional qualification e.g., ACCA/ACA/MAAT or Part Qualified
  • At least 2 years' UK practice experience
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Highly commercial approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • The ability to manage your own and the team's workload, handle multiple deadlines, and rank priority tasks
  • Friendly and welcoming manner with professional presentation
  • A willingness to work with others and respect their views
  • Excellent IT skills - Microsoft products, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS
