About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pre-Operative Assessment Practitioner to lead our Pre-Operative Assessment Unit at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pre-operative assessment, clinical governance, and staff leadership.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in leadership and management, with experience in supervising non-registered staff, pre-registration and post-basic students. You will also have a proven track record in budget management, team leadership, and change management.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering world-class care to our patients and is committed to improving the quality of our services. If you have a strong understanding of current issues related to NUH and NHS strategy and policy, and are able to use data to influence patient care and services, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management to the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of pre-operative assessment and clinical governance
  • Supervise and mentor non-registered staff, pre-registration and post-basic students
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure the effective delivery of services
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and projects
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to pre-operative assessment and clinical governance
Requirements
  • Current level one NMC registration/HCPC registration
  • Professional knowledge acquired through obtaining a degree (BSc Hons in Nursing/health related studies), supplemented by clinical experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and reflective practice
  • Evidence of leadership and management training
  • Research training or experience
  • Quality Service Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) methodology training or equivalent
