Job Description

Job Title: Optical Beam Transport Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Beam Transport Scientist to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of laser beam transport from the end of the laser chain to the experimental area chamber, which might include modeling of the large optics and mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead the installation and commissioning of large area optical components.
  • Collaborate closely with the laser, scientific and engineering teams to design key specialist equipment.
  • Work closely with a team to deliver the beam transport.

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as optics or laser science.
  • Postdoctoral experience in a relevant scientific area with a record of independent research or autonomous thinking.
  • Good knowledge of optics or laser science and ideally experience in optical systems design.
