As a Solutions Architect within our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in supporting a significant Government initiative. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee various modifications, ensuring that each solution seamlessly integrates with existing mission-critical legacy systems while fulfilling customer requirements regarding functionality, timelines, and budget.
In this position, you will also contribute to Cloud migration efforts, offering your expertise to the cloud migration team.
The Solutions Architect provides comprehensive leadership concerning the overall system solution, addressing technical, service, and process elements. You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and specialists to craft solutions that align with customer needs, while also engaging with systems engineering to guarantee that the proposed solutions are both deliverable and sustainable. Your responsibilities will span contracted work, including Cloud Transformation, and support contract growth. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer, Service Architect, and Programme Managers to ensure successful project delivery.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Program Chief Architect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define a technical solution that meets client expectations within the constraints of cost, schedule, and risk.
- Produce high-level and low-level designs that the engineering team can utilize to create a compliant solution.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer to ensure deliverability of solutions.
- Represent the organization on customer governance boards.
- Act as the primary contact for customer technical inquiries and requirements clarification.
Accountability:
- Accountable to the Program Chief Engineer for the coherence of all system designs and technical proposals, ensuring they meet specified contractual requirements.
- Accountable to the Projects Programme Manager for defining a solution that is deliverable within the established cost, schedule, and quality constraints.
- Accountable to the Program Chief Architect for defining a solution that aligns with the broader program's enterprise architecture, strategy, and customer-approved technical roadmap.
Authority:
- Authorized to approve customer requirements and technical designs.
- Engage with customers to clarify requirements and explore how they can be fulfilled.
As a leader, you are expected to foster an environment where team members feel safe to express their ideas, promote open communication, and advocate for positive change and innovation.
Required Skills:
- Proven ability to independently develop technical solutions to customer challenges.
- Provide overarching architectural guidance.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within large, multidisciplinary teams to meet tight deadlines.
- Capability to lead architecture and engineering teams within larger projects.
- Strong engagement skills with stakeholders across various business areas, including product design, service design, operations, and customer relations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills to convey complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience in developing solutions within mission-critical or business-critical environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure technologies and security protocols.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of Linux and Windows environments and application hosting.
- Expertise in security management.
- Experience in service architecture.
- Familiarity with SAFe/Agile delivery methodologies.
Clearance Requirements:
- Due to the nature of the project, candidates must be UK Nationals and will be required to obtain SC clearance.
