GI Group is currently looking to recruit an Automotive Service Technician for our public sector client in Rotherham. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering workshop support services, ensuring the proper use, maintenance, and security of tools and materials utilized in the workshop environment. A strong emphasis will be placed on maintaining health and safety standards while assisting educational staff in the execution of their teaching programs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and competently.
  • Ensure the safe storage and organization of materials and tools.
  • Distribute materials and equipment from storage to workshop areas.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment, and machinery in optimal condition.
  • Prepare materials as requested by educational staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of student projects.
  • Disassemble student projects and reclaim usable materials.
  • Keep all workshop areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Support the security of storage areas and workshops.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks based on trade expertise.
  • Receive and manage deliveries of materials and equipment.
  • Assist in inventory management and record-keeping for materials and tools.
  • Adhere to safe working practices and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide first aid assistance when necessary.
  • Support other departmental workshop areas as needed.
  • Promote and ensure the welfare of children.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Craft certificate (NVQ Level 1) or equivalent in a related engineering field.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young individuals in education.
  • Strong practical skills.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety protocols.
