Plymouth, Plymouth, United Kingdom South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

Join the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust as a Lead Vehicle Preparation Specialist. Our Fleet and Equipment team is essential in ensuring that our emergency response teams are equipped and ready to handle urgent situations by maintaining our vehicle fleet and equipment to the highest standards.

We seek dedicated individuals who can inspire and guide a small group of Vehicle Preparation Specialists in preparing ambulances to meet rigorous operational standards for emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

As part of our team, you will be involved in a transformative phase as we roll out the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) service across the region. Our current teams conduct a comprehensive cleaning of ambulances every six weeks. In contrast, the AVP model requires daily cleaning, restocking, and refueling of ambulances. This shift is necessary to adapt to the increasing demands for patient care and to enhance the availability of resources for our patients.

Your role will also encompass the thorough cleaning and restocking of ambulances, collaborating closely with our Vehicle Preparation Specialists. The team follows a structured and systematic approach to ensure that each ambulance is fully prepared to provide patient care. This position is a critical operational support role that guarantees patient safety while assisting Operations in achieving its objectives. Key tasks include:

  • Detailed cleaning and infection control measures
  • Inspection and verification of medical equipment
  • Restocking of essential supplies
  • Refueling and relocating vehicles across various sites

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must possess a valid full driving license. A C1 category license is preferred but not mandatory. Applicants should be open to undergoing training to obtain a C1 license.

About Our Organization

Working with us offers a unique experience. We provide emergency and urgent care services around the clock, every day of the year, operating across the largest ambulance region in England and responding to thousands of incidents daily.

Our commitment to delivering exceptional care is reflected in our strategic plan, which prioritizes continuous improvement in patient care.

If you share our values of teamwork, compassion, and innovation, and are eager to make a meaningful impact on people's lives, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

In return, we will provide you with the necessary skills and resources to excel in your role.

You will have opportunities for career advancement within the Trust and benefit from ongoing professional development.
