Our client, a leading provider in commercial vehicle maintenance, is expanding their operations and seeks a skilled and proactive Service Operations Manager to oversee their new facility in the North West.
The Service Operations Manager will report directly to the Operations Director and will be responsible for managing the workshop to ensure it operates profitably, efficiently, and safely, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations and corporate objectives.
This role encompasses oversight of a diverse workforce, including skilled and semi-skilled technicians, as well as administrative staff. The Service Operations Manager will ensure the maintenance of all workshop equipment, uphold quality standards, and enforce Health & Safety regulations for employees and visitors alike.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can quickly adapt and contribute effectively to the team. Previous experience in managing a workshop or service facility is essential to ensure comprehensive coverage of all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize daily tasks for the workshop, administrative team, and drivers to meet customer demands and adjust schedules as necessary.
- Communicate with clients (both external and internal) regarding service timelines, updates, authorizations, and job completions.
- Generate job cards, estimates, and invoices as needed, ensuring timely updates on job statuses within the system.
- Ensure timely availability of parts for each job.
- Accurately process purchase orders.
- Conduct cost assessments and pre-invoicing.
- Maintain discipline and order throughout the facility.
- Ensure cleanliness and security of the site, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Oversee the proper maintenance of all equipment.
- Implement and monitor Health & Safety protocols.
- Report on key performance indicators and progress to the Managing Director.
- Authorize leave requests in accordance with company policy.
- Exceptional efficiency and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in managing a multi-client workshop environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy goods vehicles and trailers.
- Familiarity with management systems such as R2C, OneLink, Truckfile, CVLink, Torq, Getremote, Fraikinview, Causeway, or VMS is advantageous.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to quickly integrate into the team.
