Job Overview

A senior leadership opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced health professional to lead the digitalisation of nursing documentation within the Corporate Nursing Team at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable for informing the strategic direction and nursing leadership in the development, deployment, and optimisation of digital and clinical information systems and wider transformational change.

Key duties include:

  • Be the Nursing Lead and expert for the Health Board/Trust for all issues related to electronic nursing documentation, demonstrating highly developed specialist nursing knowledge underpinned by academic theory and experience of health service management, including change management and resource management.
  • Work independently as the professional lead for the nursing documentation requirements and representing the interests of Nurses, multi-professional, and partner agencies by acting as the strategic liaison between nursing and informatics professionals in the delivery of Nursing/IT related programmes both nationally and locally.
  • Be responsible for leading communication with end users and departments for information needs and requirements in the development of nursing documentation and wider electronic projects such as e-patient flow and e-prescribing at Health Board level.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with Nursing & Midwifery Council
  • Masters degree or equivalent qualification in health-related subject
  • Nursing management experience, including resource management
  • Expertise and experience of applying NHS Wales Health & Care Standards into practice
  • Effective leadership skills, coaching, and mentoring experience
  • Experience and understanding of change management process
  • High level of political awareness, capable of understanding the wider objectives of the organisation and its context within current assembly policy and strategic direction
