About the Role
The successful candidate will report to the Heywood Fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government. This role, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), involves leading a research-driven public policy initiative within the UK. As a vital member of the Heywood Fellowship team, you will contribute to various outputs and events, engaging with policymakers and esteemed researchers. The Heywood Fellow, a senior civil servant, will guide a thorough investigation into a significant policy challenge that has long-term implications for the UK. The focus will be on enhancing governmental strategy, particularly in response to complex and enduring external challenges, and assessing the necessary capabilities, structures, and cultural elements for effective strategy development and execution.

While this position is primarily full-time, we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess substantial knowledge and expertise in the relevant field, including familiarity with key thinkers and research methodologies. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the policy-making process, access to a high-level policy network, and connections with the ESRC Policy Fellowship cohort, enriching your understanding of the intersection between research and policy impact. A doctorate in a relevant discipline, a keen interest in policy processes, and the capability to independently manage academic research are essential qualifications for this position.
