Job Title: Housekeeper/Kitchen Cover

Salary: From £24,865 (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Full time / Permanent / Mon-Fri / 40 hours

Location: Edinburgh

At Bright Horizons Elsie Inglis, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment for children. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Housekeeper who will also provide assistance in the kitchen as needed. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a nursery or care home setting.

Our facility is situated in a single-storey building that provides a picturesque view of Holyrood Park, offering a serene backdrop for outdoor learning.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure a clean and organized atmosphere for our families and staff, significantly enhancing our reputation. Collaboration, adherence to regulatory standards, and compliance with Bright Horizons policies are essential components of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for children, staff, and families
  • Exhibit professional behavior in a child-friendly setting, adhering to our Heart Principles
  • Uphold high cleanliness standards in children's restrooms and changing areas
  • Manage daily laundry tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • Implement and support nursery policies and procedures
  • Work alongside the nursery team to ensure exceptional cleaning standards for seamless operations
  • Assist with domestic tasks as required, including meal preparation and equipment sanitation
  • Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning supplies in accordance with COSHH guidelines
  • Prioritize health and safety, recognizing your role in maintaining a safe environment
  • Demonstrate initiative, resilience, and proactive behavior to effectively fulfill responsibilities

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in the cleaning sector
  • Familiarity with handling cleaning products and equipment

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE:

  • Understanding of COSHH principles
  • Awareness of Health & Safety regulations

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in English to ensure children's safety and the ability to follow instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or higher, or equivalent qualification (*Chef qualification must be obtained on day 1*)
