A comprehensive understanding of underwriting systems, particularly those prevalent in the London market, is essential, along with a grasp of the underwriting business and its associated processes. This includes managing the flow of communications with market consortiums. Exceptional client interaction skills are vital, as is the capability to create detailed functional specifications for software or configuration modifications.This position also involves collaboration on the next-generation underwriting system, which will serve as the evolution of the current platform. The consultant will work closely with the development team to ensure that the system meets the necessary functionalities required by underwriters to effectively manage and process their operations. As clients transition to the new system, the consultant will assist the implementation team in configuring products, collaborating with data migration specialists, and providing necessary training.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of the insurance domain, particularly within the London market, covering policy management, claims processing, and technical accounting.
- Understanding of messaging protocols associated with underwriting systems in the London market.
- Familiarity with industry initiatives and their implications for underwriting systems.
- Experience working with a general insurance software provider, contributing to the functional direction and definition of new products or features.
- Practical experience with at least one computer-based underwriting system used in the London market.
- Strong presentation and demonstration capabilities.
- Ability to manage client expectations and navigate the specification and review process under tight deadlines.
- Self-driven with a high level of energy to address challenges and devise innovative solutions.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with existing underwriting products from the company.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret complex requirements and articulate them clearly to stakeholders.
- Capability to design and recommend business processes that enhance operational efficiency.
- Adaptability to changing priorities, including travel on short notice and participation in meetings outside regular hours.
- Proficiency in data analysis to troubleshoot issues, ideally with knowledge of SQL.
- Methodical approach to testing functionalities.
- Relevant insurance industry qualifications.
- Experience in implementing insurance software solutions and understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
- Knowledge of formal analysis methodologies for solution development.
- Attention to detail with strong documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel as required.
