Senior Payroll Assistant to perform the following daily responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Provide initial support for payroll inquiries.
Process new hires, terminations, tax code adjustments, and other payroll-related information.
Verify timesheets for accuracy and authorization.
Maintain precise records of Benefits in Kind (BIK) and process through payroll.
Assist in the preparation, reconciliation, and processing of monthly payrolls.
Maintain monthly journals and collaborate with the finance department for any related inquiries.
Process pension contributions to the appropriate providers.
Administer Attachment of Earnings Orders and ensure timely payments to local authorities.
Prepare and facilitate timely payment of monthly payroll liabilities associated with PAYE.
Assist in completing National Statistic returns.
Prepare calculations for Pay As You Earn Settlement Agreements (PSA) and submit to HMRC.
Support year-end payroll processing.
Generate ad hoc payroll reports.
Provide payroll coverage in the absence of the payroll manager.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities
Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a payroll assistant or in a comparable role.
Proficient in payroll software, preferably with experience in Workday or other cloud-based systems.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Up-to-date understanding of payroll legislation regarding PAYE, SMP, SSP, NI & BIK.
Degree in Accounting or currently pursuing a payroll/finance qualification.
Excellent mathematical and accounting capabilities.
Personal Attributes
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive payroll information.
