Working within our exceptional National Park allows you to operate in one of the most picturesque regions of Wales and the UK, engaging in a diverse array of projects and tasks.
With a rich history featuring protected structures dating back to Norman times, a coastline stretching 186 miles, and a community of over 20,000 residents, this role offers an exciting challenge.
The Role
As a Planning Officer, you will engage in various planning activities for our National Park, focusing on either Development Management or Strategic Policy.
Depending on your area of expertise, you may be involved in formulating planning policies for different aspects of the National Park, including transportation, coastal management, flood risk, and economic development, or you will assess all types of planning applications and proposals.
In the strategic planning domain, you will collaborate with a small team to oversee our development plan and supplementary planning guidance, as well as contribute to Welsh language management policies for the Park.
Joining the Development Management Team, you will support the statutory local planning function, ensuring that developments align with our mission and strategy while managing planning casework.
Your responsibilities will also include conducting initial site inspections and liaising with applicants and other stakeholders.
Regardless of your specialization, you will also:
- Provide planning policy advice and support
- Prepare, present, justify, and recommend strategies, policies, and guidance for development
About You
To qualify for the Planning Officer position, you will need:
- Experience in a planning department, whether in public service or private practice
- Current knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in planning
- A professional planning qualification at degree or diploma level
- Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- A valid driving license
