Job Title: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a vibrant school in Rotherham. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping students with additional learning needs thrive academically and personally.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide tailored support to a student with specific learning needs, ensuring they can fully access and engage with the curriculum. This will involve offering emotional and behavioural support to help the student build confidence and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to a student with specific learning needs, adapting to their unique requirements and needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to monitor and report on student progress, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote students' personal, social, and emotional development, fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Work closely with the student to set and achieve goals, celebrating successes and addressing challenges in a supportive and non-judgmental manner.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe and respectful learning environment, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Requirements:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting, with a passion for supporting students with additional learning needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students' academic and personal growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
