Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Transport Manager to join their operations team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a team of drivers and ensuring the smooth operation of the company's transportation services.
Main Responsibilities:
- Driver Engagement: Drive engagement with the driving team and customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
- Appraisals and Training: Conduct driver appraisals and direct report appraisals to identify training needs and improve staff skills.
- Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures: Conduct disciplinary, grievance, and absence management reviews in accordance with company policy.
- Return to Work Interviews: Conduct return to work interviews to ensure a smooth transition for employees returning to work.
- Induction and Welfare: Ensure all drivers are inducted effectively and that staff welfare issues are dealt with promptly.
- Team Management: Manage direct reports in accordance with policies, standard operating procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Commercial Support: Support the Commercial Manager in delivering agreed plans and budgets, including established levels of service and service quality.
- Operator's Licence Undertakings: Ensure that the Operator's Licence undertakings are adhered to.
- Staff Planning: Support the Commercial Manager to ensure staff planning at the depot meets the operating requirements of the business.
- Incident Prevention: Ensure the effective management of incident prevention and reduction.
- Key Performance Indicators: Manage and deliver agreed key performance indicators.
- Relationships: Maintain positive working relationships between operations, commercial, and engineering functions.
- Performance Improvement: Liaise with external bodies to improve performance of lost miles and punctuality.
- Cash Handling and Compliance: Ensure all cash handling procedures are followed and that driving licence, DQC, and Tacho checking is conducted regularly.
