The successful candidate will function as an independent practitioner, responsible for the comprehensive care of patients. This role requires a deep understanding, proficiency, and capability to evaluate, assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, advise, and either discharge or refer patients presenting with various minor injuries and illnesses, as delineated in the departmental guidelines for Emergency Practitioners.


Provide efficient, low-intensity interventions (see and treat) as part of the overall care framework within the Minor Injury Unit. Ensure operational leadership and the provision of high-quality, effective, and compassionate care, adhering to local, Trust-wide, and national policies, procedures, values, and behaviors.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit the ability to evaluate, assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, discharge, or refer patients with a variety of minor injuries and illnesses in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Operate independently to manage new patients and follow-up care for patients and their families/caregivers with minor injuries and illnesses in the Minor Injury Unit.
  • Deliver care for minor injuries and illnesses in Emergency Medicine based on established policies, guidelines, and evidence to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and timely documentation related to current patient recording systems, both written and electronic, while adhering to Information Governance standards and addressing any deficits appropriately.
