As a Lead Claims Specialist, you will assess, evaluate, and process claims estimates and settled claim amounts in accordance with policy stipulations and in alignment with the QBE Claims Philosophy.

The Claims division has been established to adapt to the changing demands of our organization and our clients. This team is a powerful asset for QBE, consisting of over five hundred professionals distributed across various locations in the UK and Europe, showcasing the diversity and strength of the region. Handling upwards of 200,000 claims annually, QBE has earned a reputation for excellence in the industry and is widely acknowledged for its technical proficiency.

The London markets claims team operates within Core claims. Established in 2018, this team has grown steadily to address the evolving requirements of our business and our clientele. Our lines of business, shared across four claims teams, encompass Casualty, Property, CAR, Marine, Energy, and various FSM lines. A significant portion of our operations is international, with most handled via the bureau. We prioritize our customers in all our endeavors.

We are actively seeking Lead Claims Specialists for the London Markets team. You are expected to exhibit technical expertise in at least one of our lines of business and to investigate, manage, and resolve more intricate claims efficiently and proactively, adhering to SLAs and authorized limits. You will play a vital role in the training, coaching, and development of our less experienced adjusters, including participation in quality control. Additionally, you may be tasked with drafting technical guides pertinent to your area of expertise and may need to enhance your skills in other lines of our business. Flexibility in assisting other teams when your skills permit and needs arise is essential.

Your Responsibilities
  • Serve as a reference point for other members of the Claims team on specific tasks as necessary.
  • Assist the Assistant Claims Manager and Team Leaders in the technical mentoring of Claims Adjusters and Technicians as needed.
  • Support the execution of the Claims strategy to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Provide tailored training to the Claims team.
  • Investigate and resolve complex claims of a specialized nature to deliver exceptional claims handling services with minimal leakage.
  • Identify and examine coverage issues to ensure that the company's liability aligns with its contractual obligations.
  • Accurately reserve to clarify the Company's liability at all times.
  • Ensure that messages, advice, and correspondence are addressed proactively and within agreed timelines to provide a professional service to brokers and clients.
  • Effectively manage estimates and billings calculated by clients, service providers, and brokers, resolving any discrepancies.
  • Handle disputed claims and other significant claims issues to resolve and settle claims on an economic basis.
