Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Practice Educator to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational support to nursing staff caring for acutely unwell patients on the Older Persons Admissions Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational support to nursing staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care to patients with complex needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff in areas such as geriatric care, delirium, and dementia.
  • Act as a resource for staff in the Older Persons Admissions Unit, providing expert tuition, support, and guidance to nursing staff caring for acutely unwell patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to ensure that best practices are shared and implemented across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to education and training.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Registered nurse with a minimum of 1 year of experience in adult care.
  • Experience in supervising and facilitating pre-registered students and staff nurses in practice.
  • Teaching and assessment qualification.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with evidence-based practice.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in leadership and management.
  • Awareness of service improvement initiatives.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in training and development.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Older Persons Medicine and the importance of a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment.
  • Knowledge of the processes for the discharge of patients in care.
  • Delirium and Dementia knowledge.
  • Holistic care approach.
  • Ability to critically appraise and feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in electronic systems and databases.
