Job Responsibilities:

  • Handle a diverse caseload of childcare matters
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in all aspects of childcare law
  • Communicate with clients, opponents, courts, and third parties to progress files
  • Advocate at court
  • Support other family advisors on their cases and contribute to the departmental strategy and business objectives
  • Manage and supervise paralegals, delegating work and facilitating their professional development
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external business requirements, including quality control and regulatory standards
  • Monitor and report on financial and business performance, delivering work in a profitable manner
  • Contribute to internal continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing
  • Support inter-departmental collaboration on joint files, projects, and events
  • Contribute to the development of the departmental business plan
  • Build positive relationships with clients and enhance the firm's profile to drive business growth
  • Contribute to business development, including training events, articles, and marketing initiatives

Requirements:

  • 2+ years PQE Solicitor
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and work under pressure
  • Commitment to providing a high standard of client care
  • Previous experience within a childcare family department is essential
  • Accreditation as a Children Panel Member is desirable
  • Proven competence in IT skills, including case management and other systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good client care skills, providing professional and competent legal advice
  • Proven experience in handling own caseload, managing deadlines, and generating fees
  • Good writing and drafting skills, with excellent communication and technical ability
