About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-run Alternative Provision School in St Albans, Hertfordshire, as an Art Educator. The school is 3 years into a 5-year development plan to become an Ofsted 'Outstanding' provider of education for students between 11 and 16 who have been removed from mainstream schooling.
The school is currently graded as 'Good' and produces strong results at GCSE, including Maths and English, which is increasing on a yearly basis. The school ensures all pupils are entered for GCSEs.
The Art department is well-resourced with the latest machinery and refurbished classrooms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with SEN pupils, be able to teach Art through to GCSE, and be hardworking, committed, and open to further professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Art to students between 11 and 16 who have been removed from mainstream schooling
- Develop and implement engaging Art lessons to meet the needs of SEN pupils
- Assess and record student progress, setting targets for improvement
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop a cohesive Art curriculum
- Contribute to the school's development plan, sharing expertise and best practices
Requirements:
- QTS in Secondary Art or equivalent
- Experience of teaching Art to SEN pupils
- Ability to teach Art through to GCSE
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
