We are seeking an exceptional teacher and leader to head up our thriving History Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading curriculum and teaching standards within History, with a focus on strategic oversight of Key Stage 3 and 4, and planning for the growth into Key Stage 5.
Key Responsibilities- Lead curriculum and teaching standards within History, ensuring high-quality education for students.
- Strategically oversee Key Stage 3 and 4, and plan for the growth into Key Stage 5.
- Line manage members of staff within the History Department, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement schemes of learning and resources, ensuring up-to-date knowledge and best practices in History education.
- Communicate effectively with families and students about curriculum and delivery of History, ensuring transparency and engagement.
- Contribute to the development of teaching, learning, and assessment within the faculty, ensuring excellence in Humanities education.
- Support the development of History across the federation, sharing best practices and expertise.
- Plan and deliver outstanding lessons, utilizing a variety of teaching resources and methods to engage students.
- Contribute to the Academy's EDI strategy, ensuring inclusive and equitable education for all students.
- Set and mark internal examinations and tests, ensuring accurate and fair assessment.
- Develop and maintain excellent ICT skills, utilizing technology to enhance teaching and learning in History.
- Provide accurate information to parents, attending parents' evenings and other presentation meetings as required.
- Qualified Teacher Status and relevant qualifications and experience in History education.
- Demonstrate an overview of the needs of the whole school and curriculum area(s).
- Be aware of current relevant legislation and educational developments.
- Understand the curriculum and factors contributing to the learning experience of pupils.
- Demonstrate a positive approach to change and a flexible approach to the demands of the post.
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Be able to work as part of a team, valuing the contribution of other members.
- Demonstrate commitment to all school policies and understand and respond to the needs of pupils with SEN.
