Position Overview

Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Ltd is looking to hire 3 Facilities Maintenance Technicians to support operations at various healthcare facilities as required by service demands.

The selected candidates will play a crucial role in the daily upkeep and management of all essential building and engineering services, as well as critical equipment across all designated properties. This includes involvement in some installation tasks. The Facilities Maintenance Technicians will collaborate with a team to execute both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Estates Officers.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidates will possess experience in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Building Services within an Estates or comparable setting. They should demonstrate adaptability and the capability to manage competing priorities while maintaining composure under pressure. Responsibilities include:

  • Prioritizing tasks based on service and operational needs.
  • Utilizing computer systems effectively, showcasing strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Exhibiting excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to engage with both technical and non-technical staff.

The role involves performing semi-skilled building and engineering tasks independently, as well as conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs relevant to the skills and training acquired, including work on domestic appliances.

Job Duties

The Facilities Maintenance Technicians will be responsible for:

  • Executing planned and reactive maintenance tasks on Trust properties as instructed by Estates Officers and Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in various engineering and construction projects as needed.
  • Managing inventory control and accurately recording all parts issued and stock received.
  • Participating in the Estates on-call rota and fulfilling essential out-of-hours duties as required.
  • Possessing a full driving license is preferred.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing fields, or NVQ Level 2, or relevant experience.
  • Willingness to obtain PAT Testing qualifications with appropriate training.
  • Completion of training courses in Advanced Driving (vans), Scaffolding, Manual Handling, Confined Spaces, Conflict Resolution, Legionella awareness, and Fire Control.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Certification in PAT Electrical Testing.

Additional Requirements:
