POSITION SUMMARY
The facilities maintenance team is tasked with providing comprehensive cleaning services and support for various events as directed by the team leaders and facilities manager. The goal is to optimize the resources available within the team while ensuring the safe operation of equipment and cleaning supplies. This role is hands-on and requires active participation.
The institution operates from early morning until evening, with core working hours typically in the late afternoon to early evening. Team members will adhere to their contracted hours, which may be adjusted in consultation with the facilities manager based on operational needs.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The cleaning team reports directly to the facilities manager and/or team leaders.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Engage in training sessions, seek clarification when needed, and share knowledge with fellow team members.
Training will be provided on general health and safety protocols.
Complete assigned tasks to the required standards and collaborate fairly with colleagues, ensuring safe use of equipment and materials.
Maintain a safe working environment by being aware of surroundings, utilizing signage, checking equipment, and avoiding hazards.
Provide coverage during staff absences and encourage team members to do the same.
The facilities manager reserves the right to modify work schedules, rosters, and staff assignments as necessary.
Report any concerns or issues to the facilities manager and team leaders regarding site conditions observed during work.
Arrive for shifts punctually, dressed in a clean uniform, and prepared to fulfill responsibilities to the expected high standards.
Notify the facilities manager promptly of any issues that may hinder the completion of your shift to facilitate alternative arrangements.
Perform additional duties as required by the institution in line with core services and as directed by the facilities or estates manager.
Report any suspicious activities to the manager or relevant personnel.
Be mindful of the importance of maintaining safety around students and ongoing school activities.
Treat colleagues and others with respect and professionalism.
Ensure that cleaning signage is displayed appropriately when necessary.
Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations and act accordingly.
Conduct pre and post checks of equipment used, such as carpet cleaning machines.
Collaborate closely with estates staff on various matters.
DIVERSE CLEANING TASKS INCLUDE:
Cleaning floors through sweeping, washing, deep cleaning, buffing/polishing, vacuuming, and seasonal deep cleans based on the type of flooring.
Cleaning furniture, fixtures, fittings, and equipment using appropriate methods and finishes.
Maintaining sanitary facilities (toilets and showers) to high hygiene standards using suitable products and equipment.
Managing waste removal, including general and recycling waste.
Performing miscellaneous internal cleaning tasks such as walls, whiteboards, glass panels, door hardware, handrails, elevators, and staffroom amenities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with the collection of lost property items for centralized management.
Clearing and cleaning lockers.
Conducting deep cleans of team areas, storage spaces, and equipment checks.
