Civil Design Engineer

NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading engineering design house in Thornaby to find a skilled Civil Engineer for a contract position. This role is initially for 12 months and is outside of IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and check design calculations, specifications, and quantities, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  2. Supervise the production of and check drawings/specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  3. Develop technical specifications, reports, and scopes of work.
  4. Conduct technical analysis of proposals from equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  5. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
  6. Interpret vendor drawings and information.
  7. Work within design budgets and programs, ensuring timely completion.
  8. Comply with the company's quality management systems.
  9. Report to the Lead Civil Engineer.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. University degree in a relevant field.
  2. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Essential Experience:

  1. Background in heavy engineering, chemical, or petrochemical industries, with expertise in reinforced concrete foundations, sub-structures, aqueous retaining structures, and general infrastructure works.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Excellent written and spoken English, with technical proficiency.
  2. Specification and report writing skills.
  3. Awareness of and compliance with company quality management system procedures.
  4. Ability to design and work to Eurocodes, British Standards, and Codes of Practice.

Essential Software Knowledge:

  1. IT literacy.
  2. Experience with Tekla software.
  3. Design and analysis software usage, preferably ROBOT & TEDDS.
