Working Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Overview:
This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in collaborative research across two innovative laboratories focused on liver regeneration and Type 1 diabetes. The primary objective is to enhance islet transplantation results in diabetic rodent models. The successful candidate will contribute to a research initiative funded by a prominent foundation, exploring the efficacy of biodegradable microparticles containing various therapeutic agents, including anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory compounds, to improve islet transplant success when administered alongside islets directly into the liver.
Additionally, the post holder will collaborate with esteemed colleagues from the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and the University of Nottingham's Department of Pharmacy, who are involved in the production of these microparticles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality research in molecular biology and cell biology.
- Utilize a current animal license or recent experience with rodent models.
- Demonstrate a strong interest and knowledge in regenerative medicine and cell therapy.
- Employ imaging and analysis software relevant to cell biology.
Qualifications and Skills:
- PhD in a relevant biomedical field (preferred).
- Over two years of practical research experience in the specified disciplines.
- Proven experience working with animal models, particularly rodents.
- Familiarity with imaging techniques and analysis tools in cell biology (preferred).
