About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Student Recruitment and Admissions team. The successful candidate will support the Student Recruitment Manager in the delivery of high-quality, strategically aligned events to undergraduate prospects, applicants, and offer holders on behalf of the University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of large-scale University-wide Open Days, Offer Holder Days, Discover Durham Tours, and digital events
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including academic staff, parents, external providers, and internal services staff
  • Provide advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues
  • Implement policies and procedures and contribute to future changes for the service area
  • Plan and deliver large-scale events, including risk management and assessment
  • Work under pressure and respond appropriately to incidents and issues that occur during event planning and delivery
  • Develop materials, publications, and branding for events with excellent proof-reading skills and attention to detail
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends in higher education, especially in the role of new media, including online event delivery and student recruitment

Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience and expertise in the development and delivery of services, events, and activities within an organisation
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships, deliver formal presentations, and produce reports, publications, and promotional materials
  • Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps, including digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, and bespoke business systems
  • Ability to plan and organise events and activities, solve problems, and decide on and plan appropriate solutions
  • Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in higher education, especially in marketing, recruitment, and/or admissions
  • Experience of planning and delivery of digital/virtual online events or activities
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to supervise and direct student ambassadors or casual staff
