The Perse School stands as a prominent independent co-educational institution catering to students aged 3-18. Our Modern Foreign Languages department is enriched by a diverse team of educators specializing in four primary languages: French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin, alongside three extracurricular languages: Italian, Japanese, and Arabic.


Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and organized individual with a passion for the French language to assist in enhancing students' language proficiency and cultural understanding. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering students' spoken French abilities and appreciation for Francophone cultures.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation and delivery of engaging activities for small groups of students in Years 9, 10, and 11, focusing on AQA GCSE speaking exam components.
  • Prepare resources and conduct speaking lessons for Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth students, aiding them in their A Level speaking exam preparations.
  • Assist Upper Sixth students in selecting and researching topics for their independent research projects.
  • Work with small groups of DELF A2, B1, and B2 students to prepare them for their speaking assessments.
  • Facilitate conversation practice for lower school students in small groups, as scheduling allows.
  • Co-teach and occasionally lead lessons across various age groups.
  • Help all students enhance their speaking skills, ensuring they achieve high levels of vocabulary, grammar accuracy, and pronunciation.
  • Encourage students' understanding of and interest in Francophone cultures and current events.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of students, including those with Special Educational Needs.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in French.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Familiarity with GCSE and A Level French speaking exam requirements.
  • Deep knowledge and interest in Francophone cultures and current affairs.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working with young learners.
  • Demonstrated high standards of behavior and ability to embody the School's values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
