Job Summary
The High Voltage Electrical Engineer (HV Engineer) is a critical role within the Fastnet Group, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems on offshore platforms and wind turbines. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, excellent communication skills, and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical System Commissioning and Maintenance: Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and repairs as required to ensure the electrical systems run safely and efficiently.
- Global Travel and Work: Undertake stand-by and travel/work globally, both onshore/offshore as required, to support project delivery.
- Procedure Development and Review: Review project-specific procedures and apply subject matter expertise where applicable to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Technical Support and Guidance: Provide technical support and guidance to onboard electrical technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the installation process alongside Client Engineers/Representatives and technicians, conducting pre and post-testing steps of the submarine electrical power systems.
- High Voltage Testing: Consider factors such as extreme temperatures, humidity, saltwater, and high winds when conducting High Voltage (VLF - Very Low Frequency) testing on the HV system.
Additional Responsibilities
- Safety and Compliance: Verify and understand project safety compliance through developing an in-depth knowledge of the clients' HSE policies and procedures.
- Quality and Production: Work with existing standards and quotations to assist with preparation of tenders and quotations in line with best work practice and standards, targeting the best performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery time.
- Financial Reporting: Report weekly back to Head Office regarding site operations, schedule changes, and scope completions which could influence financial testing.
