What You Can Anticipate as an Automotive Service Technician:
- Full-time hours
- Standard workweek: Monday to Friday
- Working hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour break
- Saturday shifts on a rotational basis (1 in 3) from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, compensated at an overtime rate
- Competitive salary range: £36,000 - £41,900 OTE
- Incentive programs with achievable bonuses
- Additional financial rewards for completing training programs
Key Responsibilities of an Automotive Service Technician:
- Conduct servicing on a variety of vehicle makes and models
- Perform maintenance and repairs on client vehicles, including oil changes, fluid level assessments, and tire rotations
- Utilize diagnostic tools to identify vehicle issues
- Execute general maintenance and repair tasks
- Conduct brake inspections and replacements (pads and discs)
- Handle suspension repairs
- Repair and replace lighting systems
- Manage exhaust system repairs and replacements
- Address clutch repairs
- Work on gearbox issues
- Maintain accurate records of repair processes using manuals and personal expertise
- Test the performance of components and systems post-repair
Qualifications for the Automotive Service Technician Role:
- NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI certifications at Level 3 or Level 2 with a minimum of three years of service experience
- Possession of a full, valid driving license
- Prior experience in a garage setting is essential; experience with commercial vehicles is advantageous but not mandatory
