Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director of Research and Innovation to lead our research and innovation efforts at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing our research strategy, working closely with our clinical directors and senior management team to ensure the delivery of high-quality research and innovation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Research Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy that aligns with the Trust's goals and objectives.
- Lead Research and Innovation Efforts: Lead and manage research and innovation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Collaborate with Clinical Directors and SMT: Work closely with clinical directors and senior management team to ensure the delivery of high-quality research and innovation projects.
- Represent the Trust: Represent the Trust at regional and national forums, promoting our research and innovation efforts and building partnerships with academic and commercial partners.
- Embed Patient and Public Involvement: Embed patient and public involvement at all levels of decision-making, ensuring that our research and innovation efforts are patient-centered and responsive to community needs.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and standards, working closely with corporate teams to ensure our research and innovation efforts are governed effectively.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate the Trust's research and innovation vision and plans to internal staff and external agencies, raising the profile and highlighting the benefits of research activity within the Trust.
Requirements:
- Professional Qualifications: Professional knowledge acquired through degree, supplemented by specialist training to masters or equivalent level, management qualification or equivalent experience.
- Research Experience: Significant experience of clinical trials management and related methodology, with a strong understanding of the research funding environment in the UK.
- Leadership and Management: Significant experience at a complex organization within the healthcare research sector at a very senior manager level, including responsibility for strategic planning and budgets.
- Qualifications and Certifications: PhD, MD, or equivalent research qualification, formal qualification in leadership, preferably relevant to clinical research.
