We are seeking Support Workers/Intervenors to join our team at SENSE, the National Deafblind and Rubella Association, in the North London area. As a Support Worker, you will provide 1:1 support to children and adults who have been born with sight and hearing impairments, known as congenital Deafblindness.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personalized support to individuals with dual-sensory impairments, promoting personal and social development, and encouraging independence through enabling access to activities.
- Deliver sensory-based sessions using various light and sound equipment and tactile toys to deliver sensory stories.
- Support individuals to develop their communication skills, including using play, intensive interaction, and fun to aid expressing their wants and needs.
- Assist individuals to access their local community, attend work experience, and develop life skills ready for the next stages of life.
- A full UK license with the use of your own vehicle.
- Specialist training in supporting individuals with dual-sensory impairments.
- No existing professional care experience required.
We are currently recruiting for bank/relief Intervenors. There may be an opportunity for permanent roles where required across the service, based on the needs of the individual/s we support. The following hours are currently available in North London:
- (Child) Waltham Cross - 4 hours per week
- (Child and Adults) Watford - 16 hours per week
- (Child) Rickmansworth - 4 hours per week
