Roles necessitating PVG Membership


Please be aware that starting from 1 April 2023, candidates for roles requiring PVG membership will be responsible for the associated costs. This applies solely to positions with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and positions at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)


The Council will initially cover the PVG membership fee, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non-members, which will be deducted from the employee's first FULL month's salary payment.


Role Responsibilities:


The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Cook in Charge in the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and efficient environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

- An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or a commitment to complete this course within 6 months.
- Completion of the FSA – Food Standards Agency's food allergy online training within 1 month.

Key Competencies:
- Awareness of kitchen safety and hygiene risks.
- Ability to manage cash and cheques.
- Proficient written and numerical skills.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Adept ICT skills relevant to catering operations.
- Capability to follow established recipes for meal preparation.
- Ability to step in for the Cook in Charge during their absence.
- High standards of hygiene awareness.
