Job Title: Principal Building Control Inspector

MMP Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Building Control Inspector to join our team on behalf of a Local Authority based in Bedfordshire. This is a permanent opportunity with a salary range of £50,085 - £54,047.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including residents, businesses, local authorities, and central government, providing specialist advice on Building Regulation compliance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist advice on Building Regulation compliance to a variety of users.
  • Investigating compliance issues, addressing complaints, and enforcing Building Regulations.
  • Validating applications, assessing fees, and managing Building Regulation cases from planning through to implementation.
  • Conducting site inspections to ensure regulatory compliance, with a focus on health, safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, and accessibility.
  • Handling complex cases involving Building Regulation compliance, offering guidance and support to less experienced colleagues.
  • Prioritizing tasks within the team to ensure efficient service delivery.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in Building Control and Regulation compliance.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety, sustainability, energy, and accessibility standards.
  • The ability to manage complex cases independently, while also supporting and guiding junior colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with a wide range of customers and stakeholders.
  • Regular manual handling activities.
  • Exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
