About the Role:
GCU UK Ltd is seeking a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, inspect, repair, and test GCU's fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles, plant, and equipment, including fault diagnosis.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on all HGV vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
- Diagnose faults on complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Prepare and present vehicles for 6-weekly inspections and annual MOT inspections.
- Attend to broken-down or accident-damaged vehicles to perform necessary repairs.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and Health and Safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent, ideally with an IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification.
- Ideally possess an HGV license category C minimum.
- Previous experience in a relevant Fitter/Technician role.
- Knowledge of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Good standard of verbal and written communication, with the ability to use computer systems for compliance record keeping.
