About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in the West Kent locality. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities to access and participate in their local community, while also developing essential life skills.

You will be working from hubs as well as within community settings, providing person-centred support to individuals with varying needs. Your role will involve planning and delivering outcome-focused sessions, promoting social inclusion, rights, and choices, and assisting with personal care and mobility needs.

As a Support Worker, you will be trained in manual handling and will be expected to travel across the locality to cover shifts. You will also be required to drive and escort individuals on the service minibus, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.

We are looking for someone with relevant experience in care and support, including working with individuals with learning disabilities. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.

In addition to your experience and skills, you will need to have a Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to undertake this training as part of your development. You will also be required to complete a satisfactory induction period, including the Care Certificate and medication workbook.

Kent County Council is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce, and we welcome applications from individuals with a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you are passionate about supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities, and have the skills and experience required for this role, we encourage you to apply.
