Retail Shop Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Shop Manager to lead our high-performing charity shop in Heswall, Wirral. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving sales and profitability, managing a team of staff and volunteers, and ensuring excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Team Leadership: Lead, recruit, and manage a motivated team of staff and volunteers to ensure smooth shop operations and maximum profitability.
  2. Sales and Profitability: Achieve sales and profit targets by optimising merchandising, space allocation, and local market insights.
  3. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with all charity policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  4. Performance Monitoring: Monitor shop performance using EPOS data, retail trends, and competition analysis to stay ahead in the market.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the Area Manager to improve shop performance and maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
  6. Financial Management: Manage shop budgets and control operational costs in line with company guidelines.
  7. Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service by training and leading your team to provide an outstanding shopping experience.
  8. Operational Management: Take full responsibility for daily cash handling, banking, and inventory management to ensure accurate and secure transactions.

Requirements:

  1. Proven Experience: Strong background in retail/charity management with experience in leading successful teams.
  2. Financial Acumen: Experience in cash handling, budget management, and using management information systems such as EPOS.
  3. Gift Aid Knowledge: Familiarity with Gift Aid processes and maximising its income potential in retail settings.
  4. Merchandising & Sales: A creative approach to merchandising with a keen eye for detail to drive sales and profitability.
  5. IT Skills: Comfortable using IT systems to analyse performance and manage stock.
  6. Creative and Detail-Oriented: Confident, creative, and detail-oriented, with a solution-focused mindset.
  7. Travel and Flexibility: Confident with a full, clean driving license and the ability to travel around the North West.
