Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our research and development efforts in creating self-limiting technology for crop-damaging insect species. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory equipment, as well as promoting a safe working environment for the technical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and organize laboratory and insect rearing equipment to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Maintain the cleanliness of laboratories by regular cleaning of floors and surfaces, adhering to health and safety regulations and biocontainment requirements
  • Dispose of laboratory waste properly, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
  • Manage inventory of chemicals and solutions used by the technical team, ensuring accurate tracking and ordering
  • Collaborate with the technical team to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow, providing support and assistance as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE level education with strong English and Math skills, with a focus on scientific literacy and analytical thinking
  • Previous experience in a scientific or industry setting, with a strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
  • Diligent and organized approach to work, with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable attitude
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
