The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps/Automation Engineer to join our Automation team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for automating infrastructure deployments using Terraform & AWS CDK, building platforms to automate and remediate tasks for our internal teams, and promoting a culture of observability throughout Airtime.

You will be at the forefront of our DevOps & Automation efforts, supporting new starters and existing engineers with new capabilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our DevOps & Automation strategy forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Automation: Build and improve our infrastructure using infrastructure as code with Terraform & AWS CDK.
  • Cloud Environment Management: Provision and secure our cloud environments to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Platform Development: Build new platform capabilities and automations to reduce toil for engineers and other teams within Airtime.
  • CI/CD Optimization: Optimize our CI/CD processes to improve efficiency and reduce lead time.
  • Observability and Coaching: Coach engineers on good practices when it comes to observability, operations, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.
  • Process Improvement: Work with internal customers to reduce or remove bottlenecks, improve processes, and enable new capabilities.
Requirements
  • Infrastructure as Code Expertise: You will have expertise in infrastructure as code, with knowledge of CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, etc.
  • Cloud Experience: You will have at least 2 years of experience in deploying and operating production workloads on AWS cloud, with a certification at associate level or above.
  • Programming Language Skills: You will have experience in a programming language such as JavaScript/Node, TypeScript, Go, C#, PHP, Python, Java, etc.
  • Database Experience: You will have experience working with a MySQL database, with knowledge of other SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Observability and Security: You will have experience in operating and diagnosing workloads in production, including handling outages, tracing problems, troubleshooting, and remediation. You will also have knowledge of observability good practices and experience with tools such as DataDog, Splunk, etc.
  • CI/CD and Security: You will understand the benefits and demands of CI/CD, and how to improve processes to reduce lead time. You will also have experience in securing cloud environments, managing secrets, rotating keys, documenting and mitigating risks, and meeting compliance goals.
