Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to become a vital part of our dynamic Commercial team. This role involves managing subcontract procurement and maintaining project forecasts. As the primary contact for commercial inquiries, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting final accounts, generating quotations, and creating Bills of Quantities from technical drawings. Ensuring timely invoicing and debt collection will also be part of your responsibilities, along with providing support to the commercial team and adapting to various tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide informed advice and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of technical knowledge.
- Utilize site drawings to prepare Bills of Quantities and possess a solid grasp of contract documents and specifications.
- Oversee cost forecasting, management, and control processes, including contract programmes and risk registers.
- Advise on contractual matters and manage contractual correspondence effectively.
- Understand project budget components, including turnover, profit/loss, work in progress, and cash flow.
- Identify, document, and negotiate changes in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Analyze and compare contract and subcontract tenders and budget information.
- Utilize in-house software tools such as Coupa, Lisa, and Confirm, with training provided as necessary.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by your line manager.
- Ensure projects adhere to Colas governance, policies, and procedures.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a HND in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of three years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, showcasing relevant experience in civil and highway projects. Familiarity with NEC 3 and 4 contracts is advantageous.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a client-focused approach, and strong commercial awareness. You should possess effective time management skills, adaptability to change, and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure. A valid UK driving license is a requirement for this position.
Compensation Package:
Colas offers a competitive total compensation package, which includes:
- A salary range of £40,000 to £50,000, depending on experience, plus a Company Car or Car allowance.
