Science Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Science Technician to support our client school's science department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of practical lessons and maintaining laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of Materials: Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical lessons across various scientific disciplines.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is safe for use.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the laboratory environment.
  • Support Teaching Staff: Assist teachers during practical lessons by demonstrating techniques or providing additional support to students as needed.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • A relevant qualification in a science subject (e.g. BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a school laboratory setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
