Job Title: Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant to join our research team at Newcastle University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-quality research in an academic environment, with a focus on palliative and end-of-life care for people with multiple long-term conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct evidence synthesis, qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Lead an evidence synthesis project, including obtaining ethical approvals and working with experts by experience
  • Plan and execute surveys, recruit and interview study participants, and maintain accurate records
  • Compile reports for funders and peer-reviewed publications, present data at group meetings and conferences, and prepare feedback for participants
Requirements:
  • Experience of conducting high-quality research in an academic environment
  • Experience of conducting applied health research on sensitive topics
  • Experience of evidence synthesis, qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Ability to carry out research project work within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones, and producing research to an appropriate standard
Desirable:
  • Experience of survey design
  • Experience of conducting applied health research in sensitive areas (e.g., end of life and palliative care)
Attributes and Behaviours:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the research project team
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively with others
Qualifications:
  • For appointment at research associate level, a PhD in a subject relevant to multi-method research on palliative and end-of-life care for people with multiple long-term conditions
  • For appointment at research assistant level, first and masters degrees in a subject relevant to multi-method research on palliative and end-of-life care for people with multiple long-term conditions
