About the Role

Our Optometrists are well-equipped to conduct patient screenings, provide coaching and training, and maintain high departmental standards.
Asda is dedicated to supporting Optometrists through comprehensive training and skill development. We offer an excellent CPD program and opportunities for further qualifications funded by the company, empowering our Optometrists to adapt to the changing landscape of eye care.
Our in-store, regional, and home office teams provide extensive support for both clinical and service-related inquiries.
About You
At Asda, delivering outstanding service is essential for creating memorable customer experiences. By utilizing your clinical expertise and enthusiasm, you will contribute significantly to this mission.
Working alongside an Optical Manager, you will help foster an environment that combines clinical proficiency with operational excellence. Your role will involve supporting training initiatives and developing new patient services to ensure customers receive the latest and most accessible offerings.
Your Responsibilities:
- Be a fully qualified optometrist registered with the GOC
- Be a registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
- Hold MECs or WECs accreditation (or be willing to obtain it within 12 months of joining Asda, with our support)
- Be on track to meet the statutory CPD points requirement
- Utilize your skills and passion to provide a memorable customer experience
- Be enthusiastic about developing new patient services and influencing the department's culture
When applying for any Optical roles, it is essential to be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) for the relevant professional role type. Additionally, you will need to provide evidence of your Right To Work in the UK.
As part of the compliance process, we will request proof of being on the NHS performer list for your nation or, in Scotland, the Health Board you wish to work with, along with two clinical references. If applying in Wales, evidence of your WECS accreditation and WGOS module accreditation will be required.
