About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer to join our team at Wärtsilä Defence Solution Ltd. As a Senior Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop test plans for product testing, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all specifications/requirements and use cases.
- Provide technical guidance and direction for Test Engineers, and support other departments and vendors.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Department and other teams to understand product requirements and design appropriate test programs.
- Implement and maintain test frameworks and tools to streamline testing processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of testing methodologies, processes, and tools.
Requirements
- Proven background working (minimal 5 years) within a Test Engineering environment, ideally with mechanical seal assemblies.
- Have a Degree or preferably a Master's in a relevant Engineering subject.
- An experienced self-sufficient Senior Engineer, needing very little supervision.
- Ability to interpret design drawings and use CAD software to draw test hardware.
- Comfortable doing and understanding relevant Mechanical Engineering calculations.
- Good technical knowledge especially within the Marine industry, particularly working with classification societies and IMO compliance standards.
- Demonstrate ability to use test monitoring software tools such as LabVIEW, Tetrascience, and enVigil.
- Well-experienced in setting up instrumentation and data capture equipment, such as thermocouples, LVDT sensors, and tachometers.
- Good communicator who can work with project leads to develop test requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be a proactive team player in helping colleagues.
- Good experience in report writing, with a high attention to detail.
- Demonstrate commercial understanding and awareness.
- Able to do some occasional travelling.
