About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our male PICU ward at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges, providing them with hope and stability during a difficult time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with all activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, movement, physical comfort, personal hygiene, and use of toilet facilities.
  • Work at the direction of registered nurses, communicating effectively with patients and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate in planning and liaison activities for patients, informing registered nurses of any changes in their condition.
  • Support patients during admission, discharge, death, or personal loss, and help them adapt to their new environment.
  • Report any complaints or requests for information from patients to the senior nurse on duty.
  • Use resources effectively, reporting any risks to senior nursing staff.
  • Assist in the general running of the department, undertaking housekeeping and clerical duties as needed.
  • Participate in appraisal and training, developing a personal development plan and striving to achieve set objectives.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and as requested by the line manager.
Person Specification
  • Care certificate obtained.
  • Experience of working directly with patients for 1 year.
  • Excellent communication skills.
