Job Description

We are seeking a General Manager to join our Transport and Operations team at our Rugby site. As General Manager, you will report into the Operations Director and be responsible for leading and engaging your people to deliver optimum business performance while creating and implementing operational plans to meet current and future business strategy across the wider network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and execute the Retail strategy for the sites within this contract.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and add value.
  • Establish and maintain effective relations with the customer to ensure their expectations are met.
  • Manage the sector's performance to maximise revenue, control costs, and drive profits.
  • Work with Operations Managers to identify and drive efficiencies, ensuring achievement of agreed KPIs.
  • Utilise compliance and maintenance information to minimise risk to the business, control costs, and drive profitability.
  • Line Management responsibility for the Operations Managers.
  • Ensure processes are in place to manage the flow of communication across the sector in a clear, timely, and consistent fashion.
  • Work with the Retail HR Business Partner to devise and maintain succession plans for the sector.
  • Oversee all aspects of staff and driver training, including performance management.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience within a similar role and strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strategic experience and confidence in leading the creation and delivery of strategy to the overall business vision.
  • High commercial acumen and excellent customer relationship management.
  • Experience of different industry sectors across 3PL, Transport, and Warehousing.
  • Management CPC holder.
  • Ability to utilise management information suite to ensure proactive management of O license obligations.
  • Strong communication skills and relationship building skills.
