Job Purpose
As an Educational Support Specialist and Functional Skills Instructor, you will be instrumental in empowering learners, particularly those with identified learning challenges, to reach their educational aspirations. Your core responsibilities will include assessing each learner's distinct educational needs, providing customized support, and contributing flexibly to various educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Educational Support Delivery:
* Facilitate individual, group, and online classroom activities to promote learner development in Learning Support and Functional Skills.
* Conduct regular interventions to monitor and enhance learner progress.
* Employ effective teaching strategies during all interactions with learners.
* Provide pastoral care using designated support tools as necessary.
* Oversee and coordinate learning assessments in accordance with personalized learning plans.
* Utilize approved educational resources to support learner achievement within set timelines while ensuring quality delivery.

Collaborative Engagement:
* Partner with fellow instructors to optimize learner outcomes.
* Work closely with colleagues to establish a structured learning pathway.
* Facilitate peer training on Functional Skills delivery and standardization processes.
* Collaborate with mentors to ensure continuous learner progress.

Compliance and Reporting:
* Regularly update management on learner development and achievements.
* Ensure compliance with funding regulations, including assessments and support evaluations.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of support provided and its impact on learners.
* Effectively manage schedules to ensure timely interventions and well-organized content.
* Assist instructors in addressing learner engagement and retention challenges.

Person Specification
Qualifications:
* Teaching qualification such as a C/DET or equivalent, or actively pursuing one.
* Educated to at least a level 3 standard in Mathematics and/or English.
* Degree in Business or Education (Desirable).
* Subject specialist qualification in Mathematics and/or English (Desirable).
* Assessor Award (Desirable).

Experience:
* Proven experience in delivering high-quality educational support.
* Extensive background in teaching and assessment roles focused on English, Maths, and Additional Learning Support.
* Experience in remote delivery of Functional Skills and Additional Learning Support.
* Familiarity with managing the complete learner journey, including assessments and instructional delivery.
* Experience with e-portfolio systems.
* Ideally, a minimum of five years in an educational training and development environment.
* Experience using educational platforms to support learners.
* Ideally, at least two years in assessing and planning for learners' additional learning needs.

Knowledge & Skills:
* Ability to motivate and support learners through challenges.
* Proficient in implementing reasonable adjustments for diverse learning needs.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to organize personal schedules.
