The Buyer must thrive in a fast-paced environment, adeptly handling production demands while influencing purchasing decisions to secure optimal terms regarding quality, cost, and delivery. These efforts will directly support the Procurement strategy and contribute to departmental performance targets.

Performance Objectives:

  • Aim for a 2% reduction in overall purchase prices.
  • Maintain a vendor on-time delivery rate exceeding 90%.
  • Ensure kits are delivered on time in full (OTIF) at a rate greater than 99%.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Establish and nurture supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication regarding daily procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with the broader Procurement Planning (PP) team to make informed buying decisions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Engage with PP customers as necessary to facilitate supply chain decisions.
  • Address unresolved issues by escalating them to the Procurement Manager.

Quality Assurance:

  • Keep the Business Control (BC) system updated with accurate and relevant information.
  • Monitor daily demand reports to capture and manage inventory in line with minimum order quantities and lead times.
  • Adjust safety stock levels based on current and forecasted demand to ensure supply continuity.
  • Collaborate with the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) team to address supplier rejects and quality concerns.

Cost Management:

  • Engage with existing and potential suppliers to negotiate cost reductions.
  • Challenge and defer cost increases from suppliers through effective negotiation.
  • Identify strategies to enhance purchasing power with selected suppliers for better terms and potential cost savings.
  • Ensure payment terms align with or exceed industry standards.
  • Negotiate advantageous discount and rebate agreements.
  • Manage expenditure to minimize stock levels and obsolescence.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to track pricing variations and communicate them to customers.

Delivery Management:

  • Oversee open demand to meet delivery on time (DOT) targets.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure adherence to promised delivery dates.
  • Classify suppliers using ABC analysis for effective management.
  • Conduct regular meetings with high-value or long-lead suppliers to ensure order progress.
  • Implement stock management tools to enhance stock turnover.
  • Provide suppliers with forecasts and anticipated demand to prepare the supply chain for purchase orders.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong working relationships.
  • Participate in training and team-building initiatives to promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support project work as required.

Working Hours:
