The Role:

  • Supervise a team of drivers, planners, and operatives within the Transport department.
  • Work a late shift with flexibility to suit the individual, including options such as 12pm to 9pm or 1pm to 10pm.
  • Act as a stand-in for the Operations Manager when they are away from the business.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, carriers, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop and implement effective transport planning strategies.
  • Foster a positive and engaged team environment.
  • Think commercially at all times, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Take on additional operational responsibilities as needed, given the company's SME status.
  • Work a standard Monday-to-Friday schedule, with the possibility of flexibility depending on operational requirements.
  • Gain exposure to other areas of the business to support career development.
  • Access to training, coaching, and vocational courses, such as the CPC Management course.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bring relevant transport operational experience.
  • Be able to work afternoons Monday to Friday, with flexibility to accommodate individual preferences.
  • Be able to commute to and from the workplace on a daily basis.
  • Display a strong 'can-do' attitude, essential in a demanding industry where no two days are ever the same.
  • Be a strong-minded individual who can thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous but not essential.
